Nostalgic ramblings

As you can see, I have added a new section which is basically a collection of links to nice blogs and some of them are not purely technical or you know, boosting your productivity. However, I realized that I can't offer you much, because I actually read technical blogs only and I wanted to give you people who just write blogs about everything and nothing in leisure style which you should read without guilt-tripping yourselves, because you should have been doing something else.

There are some things I want to do in Emacs, so I read about that, I read about security, I read about how to do some frontend stuff etc... Whereas it would be nice to read about something else. After all, my life is way more than typing code. Even here I focus on purely technical stuff regarding cycling and while this is important part of my life then maybe... Maybe I could tell you different things?

Like many many years ago when Internet was way smaller and my biggest problem was that I was called a snob, because I said that maybe chewing gum that loud that half of the spectators in theatre could hear it is not nice. Fortunately, the perpetrators left during break and I bet the reason was show being too modern. Majority of the show was livestreamed on the screen and actors were behind curtain. My working theory at that time was Ragazzo dell'Europa in Warsaw Teatr Rozmaitości in 2007 (yeah, I might be old). I think there was a boom for using multimedia in theatre back then (as well as for getting naked on the scene or at least that was my impression, because it looked like whenever I went to theatre, someone had to get naked).

Coming back to old good days of blogging - there was one thing I especially enjoyed and they were called guest books. People who visited your blog could leave there some nice message with link to their blog and then you could put it on your list. What a nice thing to read for a lonely teenager. Of course some spam comments appeared now and then. For a moment I entertained a though of implementing one... And then I realized that there are so many things I should do to make it secure and filter spam...

Yes, basically I miss small Internet, but I also miss not thinking about making secure self-hosting queendom, because I can't rely on external services which are being eaten by AI. What's next? My own mail server?

I also miss being lonely teenager who could write about everything without analyzing if it's going to be useful. Yeah, I know, it's cliché to yearn for that.

Fortunately I have your attention now (if you reached this part instead of closing browser tab) and I can share insignificant anecdote connected with aforementioned Teatr Rozmaitości.

I was standing in the queue just before the show counting for getting some extra ticket allowing me to sit on the stairs or grabbing free seat if it's available and someone standing in front of me was reading a book. I didn't have any shame back then, so of course I started reading it as well. This is what I read:

We are two abysses - a well staring at the sky.

It's from Fernando Pessoa's The Book of Disquietude: By Bernardo Soares, Assistant Bookkeeper in the City of Lisbon. I barely remember this book, but I remember I enjoyed it. As you might suspect, I instantly asked the person in front of me what she is reading.

And one more thing - if you want to go to theatre, but you are afraid you might want to shut your eyes for a bit, then don't worry - it happens quite regurarly and it happened to me once in a very fancy place - National Theatre in Warsaw. We have to blame CO2 for that.

And if you are in Łódź by any chance, I recommend getting ticktes for Bolero / Carmina Burana - really good shows.

If you got an impression that I might have been a bit nerdy regarding theatre then you are correct. However, I'm doing frontend development and not directing theatre shows.
